“We are from New Jersey, and just moved back from Florida recently. The holidays are always tough. My husband – her father – passed away two years ago. He had cancer for over three years, and I told her from day one, ‘You know there will be a day that your daddy is no longer here.’ So we knew ahead of time what was going to happen. We had no family in Florida, and all of our family is here. I stay with my mom, and it is not the same. I feel like I have one foot in Florida and one foot in New Jersey. I don’t feel planted here yet.
“But we are always close. I do craft shows and travel, and she comes with me a lot. We walk the beach all the time, and enjoy finding sea glass together too. So we spend a lot of time together. But it is hard. Even when we say we are ok, we really aren’t.”
