Anxiety, Depression, and a Passion for Writing - Portraits of the Jersey Shore

Anxiety, Depression, and a Passion for Writing

“I have anxiety and depression. I have battled them my entire life. It is hard for me to talk about it though. I remember since I was in 4th grade I first started experiencing depression, and I didn’t know what it was that I was feeling.

“I struggle with my anxiety on a daily basis and I often feel uncomfortable. I experience depression when I find I have nothing to do at a particular point, like when I have a day off or something or I don’t have any projects I am working on, and I am all alone in my head. When I get depressed, it feels harder to move, to get up and get things done, I don’t have any energy, and I feel sad and everything feels harder.

“But I am a writer. It is my passion to write. And the way I feel things so deeply helps me with my writing. It is my plan to get past the anxiety and depression and one day write a book.”
