What I love about this page is I can shine the spotlight on people that do the simple kind things that when added up, can make the world a better place.
Like this woman I met at the B&N in Brick yesterday. My 5-year-old son and I were in the back of the store by the Thomas table so he could play while I read and enjoyed my peppermint mocha. Sure enough, he wandered over to me and accidentally knocked my coffee over, and it leaked all over the floor.
Before I could even stand up to find paper towels to clean the spill, this young woman – whom I had never met before – appeared out of nowhere with several wipes to help clean it up. When those proved to not be enough, she then told me to stay put and went to find more paper towels to help finish cleaning the job, so I could stay with my son Elijah and all of our stuff. She didn’t even work at the store or anything.
I was profoundly touched by her heart and cheerful grace while she helped me clean the mess.
She told me her name was Kasey and that she just came from Shop Rite and shared a bad experience she just had there. She shared how she had an interaction in line with a customer who was so mean to her that she was crying in her car afterward. It was important for her to be able to help me, Kasey explained, because she wanted to prove that she wouldn’t let that bad experience keep her from being kind to others.
She has a 4-year-old daughter and wants to be a good example for her, no matter the circumstances. As a father of two young boys, I was inspired by her example.
Thank you, Kasey, you are an inspiration!
