Portraits of the Jersey Shore Cancer Lori and Family

Chance Encounter Turns into Meaningful Connection

I met a young mother and her two young children and their dogs while looking to photograph strangers for this page in Asbury Park two weeks ago. After photographing the kids with the dogs and posting it here, I received the following message from the mom:

Portraits of the jersey shore stage iv colon cancer father died asbury park

“Hi, everyone loved the photos. My husband was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer in April. Since then we’ve been thru chemo, radiation and surgery. We have recently learned of new nodules in my husbands lungs. It’s been a crazy 2015 to say the least. I would love to get some nice family photos with our newest additions (their dogs, Shiba Inus) and while Matt is feeling well. Would mind taking a few for us?”

Absolutely.

***POTJS Update:

Our thoughts and prayers go out to this family, who lost their husband and father (pictured here) two days ago to colon cancer. It was a profound joy to have met them and interview them twice since I started this page.
